How beautiful are the tables? Look at the napkins!

February 2024 was Pug Partners of Nebraska’s annual fundraising dinner Curly Tails and Cocktails.

We had so much fun!

me, Russ, Blue - photo by Ross Nelson (the best ones often are) All photos color corrected to Pug - or more broadly dog and cat - vision :)

I dunno how exactly we convinced Ross to come, only that it involved some false promises of Pugs to steal? Well, let me walk that back. I do know - I 100% promised Ross I would steal Pugs with him and he could keep one if he came with us - an absolute lie - I just really wanted Ross there. Sorry Ross! :) Word probably got out, and it was probably your fault entirely there were no actual Pugs there.

Further proof that Ross and I are friends and he likes me #haveyoumetross

We were so sad our friends Jaime and Dillon could not attend. Other friends and family were unable to swoop in at that last minute - we would have had fun with you if you could have! Two tables next year?

Upsides - if there are any - Ross got TWO chairs for his broken foot! AND we both got two ice waters. Though we would have rather had our other friends there too of course, as much as I love ice water. Downside - Ross did not even use the extra chairs! Trying to put on a brave face I suppose. He did wear a bow tie on his boot, so all was well in the end.

Fancy boot!

Also in attendance were Russell, Blue, Abby and Max and a BUNCH more Pug Lovers and Pet Savers.

I so love getting to work with rescue groups again at Westgate Animal Clinic - nights like these are celebrations of that as well as fun opportunities to support an amazing rescue group.

Several years back, at a Taysia Blue Husky and Malamute Rescue dinner with Becky and Renée and Kristen and Derek, Russ and I won a fire pit at the silent auction. It is beautiful - we still have it on our deck today.

ANYWAYS I remember at the time being so excited we had won the auction! I went up to Jackie to tell her the good news! She said something along the lines of “Well, you bid the highest, it is not really winning to…” and I said “Jackie! I WON!” Mike laughed, and Jackie said, “Congratulations! You won!”

First, THIS party was as fun as THAT party. Second, we won again!! Look at how cute our winnings (and Russ) are!

It is no exaggeration to say my entire adult life, I have been looking for salt and pepper shakers as great as the ones Mom and Dad have. Honest to goodness, we were most recently using the disposable Hy-Vee shakers because the green was pretty…enough.

HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THESE PUG SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS??? And they KISS!! I love them more than anything else we won that night. I have at long last reached my adult salt and pepper shaker goal, and kinda feel unstoppable.

Thank you Pug Partners! And thank you everyone who created and donated the amazing things for the silent and live auctions.

Live auctions make me anxious (as does much of life - not the fault of auctions or auctioneers). HOWEVER, this auction was only fun.

Jonathan Larsen of Larsen and Larsen Auction Company - great job…and more importantly, thank you <3

The auctioneer was really good, and fun to watch work. Something that may have not caught the attention of anyone but Russ and me - and of course Blue - and that I will appreciate forever - the auctioneer mentioned Blue crocheting, and, I assume, realized even with the 100 mile an hour speed talking, that the reason they were crocheting was most likely that they were an introvert who found an extroverted event too important to miss but needed a thing. And he was kind and said a kind thing and continued on. It made my night that he processed that so quickly (I guess auctioneers probably have to be quick at processing!) and was so protective of Blue and their space. Anyways, you may not see this, but someone tell him thank you so much. ALL of us introverts had a great time, and it was because of you and the rest of the group that we could do that.

Introverts introverting

We had such a fun evening with all of you. Thank you for including us, Pug Partners. Thank you Finch table group including those there in spirit <3 We love you so much and cannot wait to see what the future holds for the dogs in need in Omaha. We are so blessed to have the rescue people we have in our community, including the amazing Pug Partner team. I heard stirrings of a revived Pug-o-ween in the future? I will clear my calendar just in case. Till next time…
