This is part of a month long series on depression. Dr. Pete Bashara is my boss.
I still do not know how to fully express how deeply Pete's visit reverberated with me, and how much it meant - and means - to me.
Pete came to see me on Saturday afternoon. He sat down with Russ, Amanda, Abby, Dave and I.
He said, "I knew you would be embarrassed, so I came to tell you not to be. And that you need this time. And that we all love you." Pete laughed, and asked how I was doing.
"Now, pretty okay," I thought. Things are going to be okay.
Thank you Boss. Your kindness sometimes overwhelms me a bit.
"Is he married?" one of the nurses asked as Dr. Bashara entered the elevator to leave.
"Very," I said.
She sighed and walked away.
