In September 2015, we attended the second annual First Responders Foundation dinner at the Omaha Police Department Mounted Patrol Facility as guests of my Dad, Bob Nelson.
We said hello to some of the people, most of the horses and the goat, whom we had met last year at the same occasion.
This year I had to know, what is his story?
A kind policewoman filled us in.
The goat was born on a farm in Ashland Nebraska five years ago. He belonged to an uncle of a police officer. The police officer brought him to the Omaha Police Department Mounted Patrol Facility where the police horses of Omaha are housed. He has lived there ever since.
She said, “He does not eat much, and he is no trouble at all, so we made him our mascot.”
His name is Nike, and he is super cute.
