In 1994, I was put on the waiting lists of all three veterinary schools to which I had applied. Instead of feeling hopeful, I was completely discouraged. Until I got my first vet school acceptance letter.
My good friend and roommate Karna Bryan wrote me a letter accepting me into HER vet school.
I hope I told you then Karna, even so, I am telling you again now, your letter meant the world to me and still does.
Ti amo!
Here is my vet school acceptance letter from Karna...
Dear Shawn,
I am delighted to inform you that we can accept you into our school of veterinary science. Applications were quite competitive this year, but we feel that yours was probably the most impressive of all of them.
It is not often when we wish to single out one prize applicant over another, but we find it especially fitting in this case. We are so anticipating the honor of instructing you in our program.
If you could please let us know as soon as possible, we want you to accept here before anyone else can recruit you into their program. We feel the environment of our school will be so graced by your presence next year that we are willing to give you first choice at a spot in our accredited program.
Again, please let me know as soon as possible whether or not you will be joining us next year. And, congratulate yourself once more for all your fine accomplishments thus far in life. You should feel very good about yourself!
Sincerely,
Karna Bryan
