Every day of my senior year of vet school, I would walk into ICU and ask Amy, the veterinary technician in charge of ICU and the blood donors, “Can I adopt Max when I graduate?”
She would explain patiently why they needed the six greyhounds and two cats to stay and why they were not eligible for adoption.
Eventually, I would shorten the question to “Please?” and she would shorten the answer to a laugh and “no.”
THANK YOU Amy for allowing me to adopt the best cat I have ever known.
I will never be able to repay you and am forever grateful.
