In May of 2009, I went to lunch with my Dad and his friend, Dr. Robert Perry, who was an incredible veterinarian who had a practice here in Omaha.. He graduated from Iowa State in 1956, and his Dad, Dr. Howard Perry, also a vet, graduated from Iowa State in 1931. I could have listened to his stories all day!
His Dad helped develop the hog cholera vaccine.
Dr. Perry wrote a chapter about his Dad for "The Prairie Practitioners, 20th Century South Dakota Veterinarians" compiled and edited by Thomas B. Ludgate, DVM and Janice Ludgate Kitzler.
I highly recommend the chapter and the book!
Dr. Perry passed away earlier this year. I am so glad I got to meet him.
