Me: He’s gone.

Mom: He’s gone, Sweetie.

Four-Year-Old: But he’s right here.

Mom: That’s his body. He’s in heaven with Jesus…and Grandpa.

Four-Year-Old: So he’s in heaven and his body’s still here?

Mom: Yes.

Four-Year-Old: Does he not need his body in heaven?

Mom: No.

Four-Year-Old: What’s he doing in heaven?

Mom: Maybe running…or playing with Grandpa.

Me: He can do stuff like that again because he doesn’t hurt anymore.

Four-Year-Old: Oh…good.

Mom: You are doing a really good job handling this.

Four-Year-Old: Good enough for a hot rod?

Me *whispering* Please say yes.
